What is a menstrual disc?
The menstrual disc is a reusable period product made of medical grade silicone from Wacker Germany for use during menstruation, collecting the blood inside of the vagina.
It is an innovative product designed in Denmark and popular worldwide.
The menstrual disc helps millions of women during menstruation and offers them a healthy alternative to classic disposable products. The period disc can be used for a period of 2-5 years and is a cost-effective solution for menstrual protection.
How does it work?
The menstrual disc is used in the vagina during menstruation. Once inserted, it is no larger than a tampon and effectively protects against leakage as it can be comfortably inserted under the cervix and fixed by the pubic bone. Thanks to its medically approved silicone and the fact that no bacteria come into contact with the blood, it can be used safely for up to 12 hours.
The menstrual disc is comfortable, reliable to use and medically safe.

How to use a menstrual disc?
The menstrual disc is a device that is inserted into the vagina to collect menstrual blood. The menstrual disc is made of medical grade silicone and is used in place of tampons and pads.
Unlike a tampon, which absorbs blood, the menstrual disc collects blood inside, helping to prevent vaginal infections or dryness. The disc must cover the opening of the cervix to prevent bleeding. It is inserted as deep as possible into the vagina, under the fornix/cervix, and stays in place once it is pushed onto the pubic bone.
Depending on blood flow, the disc can be worn for up to 12 hours and can collect up to 38 ml of blood, which is equivalent to the contents of 3 to 5 tampons. Compared to other menstrual discs on the market, the disc’s removal ring is easy to grip and pull out.
The disc can be worn during the day and night, even during strenuous physical activities such as running or cycling, swimming and even for mess-free sexual intercourse during the period.
Menstrual disc versus menstrual cups
Although both products have similar characteristics, the menstrual disc is available in a single size and does not need to be selected according to cervical size, age, or births as the menstrual cup does. The menstrual disc does not create a vacuum in the vagina and is suitable for women with a UID/spiral. The disk is easier to insert than a cup and stays under the cervix rather than along the vaginal canal like a period cup. The disc can be worn during sex, and it is totally not recommended to do so when wearing a cup.
Menstrual disc versus pads and tampons
The menstrual disc, unlike pads and tampons, is a one-time purchase. For example, it can be worn for a long period of time without needing to be replaced, so you do not have to worry about changing pads or tampons frequently. The menstrual disc traps blood inside it without affecting vaginal flora and does not cause dryness. Moreover, it is a hygienic, comfortable and effective option for every woman, and a healthy option for your intimate balance. You’ll also save yourself tons of waste and plastic that ends up in landfills. Also, think of how much money you’ll save month after month, year after year.
