A visual demonstration does not replace a safety test or a medical assessment.

The context

Your body deserves
clear information.

3.8–4.5

is a typical range for vaginal pH during the reproductive years. Values can vary with age, cycle and menopause.

Cleveland Clinic ↗

Intimate comfort is personal.

Scented products or certain materials can cause irritation for some people. If symptoms persist, talk to a gynaecologist.

ACOG recommendations ↗

Materials matter. So does construction.

What gynaecologists say

What you see and what you
can conclude.

SEGO study: reference being completed. The percentages are not shown until the original report, sample and methodology have been verified.

An observation needs context

An image does not show how often something happens or what effect it has on health.

A demonstration has limits

Adhesive tape can lift material from the surface. It does not reproduce the vaginal environment or the removal of a tampon.

Safety is assessed through testing

Materials, absorbency and product integrity are assessed with specific methods. A test at home does not replace them.

The Tampon Test

The tape test.
Take a closer look.

Two images from the FemiEko tape demonstration. Move the divider to explore each frame and look at the material visible on the tape.

The tape demonstration lets you see material that can come loose from the surface. It is not a clinical test and does not show what happens in the body.

See the 3 steps

How to do the demonstration

2 pieces of adhesive tape1 FemiEko tampon1 conventional tampon

1Lay out the tampons

Place the two tampons side by side on a flat surface.

2Apply the tape

Use similar pieces of the same tape and try to apply similar pressure. Pressure and adhesive can affect what you see.

3Peel off and compare

Peel off the tape and look at what is left on it. The result does not allow conclusions about irritation, infections or the safety of a product.

Important: do not use the tampons from the demonstration intravaginally. Whether or not material appears on the tape does not prove what comes loose during use.

How to use a tampon correctly

Choose the lowest absorbency that suits your flow. Change your tampon every 4–8 hours and never exceed 8 hours. Follow the instructions on the packaging. Organic tampons are also associated with the rare risk of toxic shock syndrome. FDA recommendations.
