Flexible rim
Folded for insertion and unfolds in the vagina. Check that the rim has fully opened and that the cup feels comfortable.

Collection cup
The cup's cavity collects menstrual blood. How often it needs emptying depends on the amount and on the capacity of the chosen size.

Grip at the base
Take hold of the base with your fingers and press lightly to break the vacuum, then slowly pull the cup out. The stem or grip helps you find the base.

Seal in the body
The cup unfolds in the vagina, beneath the cervix, and forms a seal against the vaginal walls. This helps prevent leaks and must be broken before the cup is removed.
When removing it, press lightly on the base to break the vacuum. Don't just pull on the stem or grip.

Wash your hands and clean the cup. Find a comfortable position and relax your muscles.

Fold the cup into a C-fold, or push the rim inwards. Gently insert it into the vagina without forcing.

Let the cup unfold fully. Check the seal and comfort; remove it if you feel pain.

Press on the base to break the vacuum. Pull it out slowly, empty it and clean it before using it again.

How do I choose a size for the Safe cup?
The range is available in XS (18 ml, diameter 38.68 mm), S/A (26 ml, diameter 43.75 mm) and M/B (32 ml, diameter 46.80 mm). XS is developed for teens and for you if you prefer a compact model. Take into account the position of your cervix, your flow and your comfort. Age and previous births are not enough on their own to determine the size.
Can I use the cup if it's my first time?
Yes, it may take a few tries to get used to it. Read the instructions, practise folding, and insert the cup without rushing. Don't force it, and stop using it if it hurts. You can wear period underwear as extra protection until you feel confident about the placement.
How long can I keep the menstrual cup in?
Safe cups can be worn for up to 12 hours according to the instructions, but should be emptied sooner if your flow requires it. Check more often the first few times. Capacity varies between sizes and does not guarantee the same wear time with every flow.
What should I check if it leaks?
Check whether it has unfolded fully and sits beneath the cervix so that it collects the flow. The cup may need emptying or repositioning. If it keeps leaking despite correct use, the size or shape may not suit your anatomy.
How do I remove the cup without pulling on the stem?
Wash your hands, relax your muscles and take hold of the base of the cup. Press lightly on the base to break the vacuum, then slowly pull the cup out with small movements. Don't just pull on the stem or grip, and don't use objects to get it out. If you can't get it out or it hurts, seek medical help.
Does the Safe cup need to be boiled or sterilised?
Follow the model's instructions for cleaning and sterilising, including before first use and between cycles. Saniconcentrate™ is built into the material and does not replace the care described in the instructions. Don't assume that simply rinsing it is enough.
What does Saniconcentrate™ technology do?
It is built into the silicone and developed to limit bacterial growth on the cup's surface. The effect applies to the product's material and does not guarantee protection against infections. It does not replace cleaning and keeping to the wear time.
Can I use a menstrual cup if I have an IUD?
Talk to your gynaecologist before use. There is a risk that the IUD may shift when you use a cup. If your doctor considers that you can use it, always break the vacuum before removing it, and avoid catching or pulling the IUD strings.
Can I use the cup for swimming, sport or at night?
Yes, if it is positioned correctly and you feel comfortable. Empty it according to your flow, and stick to the maximum wear time in the instructions, including while you sleep.
Can I keep the cup in during sex?
Remove the cup before intercourse with vaginal penetration. The cup takes up space in the vagina and is not intended for this use. It is not a contraceptive and does not protect against sexually transmitted infections.
