FAQ Menstrual discs
1. What is a menstrual pad made of?
Femi.Eko® menstrual disc is made of 100% medical silicone, designed by Wacker German Medical Silicone in Germany under the Elastosil brand. It is used for medical purposes and is 100% biocompatible medical silicone, which does not promote any bacterial growth and is therefore safe for the body, both internally and externally. Our technology with antibacterial Saniconcentrate is 99.99% safe against bacteria and provides great security for many years to come, without the need to sterilize the menstrual disc. All of our product combinations are made from medical grade materials that are safe for internal use. Even the colors we use are medically safe and compatible with the human body.
2. Why should you use a menstrual disc?
The menstrual disc from Femi.Eko® is not only comfortable, but also safe for health and more practical for your monthly care. It will help you save money and live a stress-free life by eliminating the constant sense of shame and discomfort that women often feel every month when using unreliable menstrual products. The menstrual disc gives you the freedom to swim, cycle and even get a night's sleep without worrying about dirty sheets or leaks. In addition, it can be used for up to 5 years and can be worn safely for up to 12 hours without the risk of bacteria or smell. You can safely use a menstrual disc during intercourse and as a safe alternative to the menstrual cup if you have an IUD.
3. Does a menstrual disc provide 100% protection against leakage?
A Femi.Eko® menstrual disc is the safest way to protect against leaks when inserted correctly. To prevent leaks, make sure the menstrual pad is positioned behind the pubic bone and inserted high and deep enough to reach the cervix. You should empty the menstrual pad at least once every 8-12 weeks. hour, depending on your level of bleeding, to avoid leaks. You can also empty the menstrual pad yourself when you go to the toilet, but read the instructions on this self-emptying method - SELF-EMPTYING.
4. How do I know the menstrual disc is full?
In the beginning, we recommend that you take out the menstrual disc after 5 hours, to see how much blood the menstrual pad has collected. Over time, you will know exactly when to change the menstrual disc. It all depends on your body or your menstrual days and flow.
5. What is self-emptying?
When you go to the toilet, you may experience blood coming out. This is because you tense the pelvic muscles and the menstrual disc thereby changes position to the self-emptying method: SELF-dumping. It is a feature of the Femi.Eko® menstrual disc that helps to keep the disc in place in the vagina, so that it is used to its full capacity, without it being stressful to use the menstrual disc (remember not to use the menstrual disc for more than 12 hours at a time time, without washing it, even though it is very easy to get used to this self-dumping method). You should always have clean hands as it may be necessary to insert a finger to push the menstrual disc into place behind the pubic bone. In most cases, the menstrual disc, when self-dumping, will just snap into place automatically, but to be best protected, you should check it.
6. Can I use a menstrual disc if I have a small vaginal canal or low cervix?
Yes you can. The Femi.Eko® Menstrual Disc is designed to be folded in half, so it is the size of a regular tampon when inserted. When you insert the menstrual pad, it will open up a bit, but it shouldn't bother you inside. If you have a low cervix, are a virgin or have a sensitive bladder, you can choose our DELICATE disc, which is anatomically developed for special needs.
7. Can I cut the menstrual disc removal ring?

Be sure to cut it smoothly so that it does not cause discomfort or internal damage.
